Yangon – Golden Rock – Bago – Yangon

Day 1 Yangon Arrival

Upon Arrival you will be welcomed by a local English speaking guide and you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. After checking-in enjoy a walking tour through downtown area where you can see most of the British colonial architects’ buildings around the city such as city hall, Sule pagoda, Mahabandoola Park, The civil high court and telegraphic offices and stopover at the Strand Hotel, the oldest building. You will then visit to Botahtaung Pagoda, one of the big three Yangon‘s pagoda and said to contain Buddha’s hair relics. In the evening, we will walk around the China Town, a chance to try local and Chinese delicacies. Venture through the stalls selling everything from flowers to seafood, spices to fresh tofu. Nearby is 19th street, a popular place to have draught Myanmar Beer, together with vegetable and meat sa-tays (BBQ). Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2 Yangon full day sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken to Kawdawgyi Lake, where you will experience panoramic views of the lake overlooking the Shwedagon Pagoda and also see the glittering Karaweik barge. You will then visit to Bogyoke Market, also known as Scott Market where famous gems, lacquer ware, fabric and wood sculptures are plentiful and available for bargaining. We will then give your feet a rest at the local restaurant during Lunch. Continue your sightseeing to National Museum giving you a chance to observe the highlights collection including the 26ft-high Lion Throne, which belonged to the last King of Myanmar ‘King Thibaw Min’. Then proceed to gate of Aung San Su Kyi’s House and take some photos then continue to Chaukhtatgyi pagoda where the colossal 70-meters long reclining Buddha Statue lies. We will then stop by at the nearby Monastery to experience the life of Myanmar monk’s. We will then end the day at Shwedagon Pagoda, the heart of Buddhist Myanmar. This pagoda dominates the skyline of the city with its sparkling gold, and is also famous for its long, sacred history. Its golden dome rises 98m and is believed to be 2500 years old. Transfer back to hotel for your overnight in Yangon.

Day 3 Yangon – Golden Rock

After early breakfast, we start off our journey to Kyaikhtee Yoe (Golden Rock), located about 160km from Yangon by coach. Golden Rock is a huge boulder covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff, supposedly held in place by a delicately placed hair of the Buddha. Upon arrival to the base camp you will be transferred to an open truck up to the transit junction. The last leg of your journey will be made on foot enjoying sunset from this unforgettable site. (Alternatively, you could hire a sedan chair carried by 4 men). Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and then pay homage to pagoda. Dinner and stay overnight in Kyaikhtee Yoe.

Day 4 Golden Rock – Bago – Yangon

After breakfast at the hotel, you will return back to the base camp with an open truck, where a private car will be waiting for you to take back to Yangon via Bago (an ancient city of Mon Kingdom which was founded in 573 AD). Upon arrival to Bago, we will stop at the Market to stroll around the lively market streets to witness the simple everyday lives of the area. Our next stop will be to Shwethalyaung Pagoda, a reclining Buddha with a length of 180ft and height of 53ft and Shwemawdaw Pagoda, a pagoda that has almost the same years as Shwedagon Pagoda but built in Mon style. We will then visit to Mon Kingdom (Kanbawzathadi) and then to Kyaikpun Pagoda, the significance of four dominantly high Buddha facing the cardinal points. We will hop back onto our coach for our ride back to Yangon. On the way we will stop by at British War Cemetery from Second World War contained 6374 graves of Allied soldiers who died in the Burma and will able to see the memorial bearing with the names of almost 27000 soldiers who died with no known graves. Return to Yangon and stay overnight in Yangon.

Day 5 Yangon Departure

Depending on your international departure flight time, there is an option to take a ride on Yangon’s Circle Train in the morning. This Yangon’s Circle Train will take about 20-30 mins and will take you a ride around the outskirts of town giving you a chance to see the lifestyle of local people. You will get off at the Kyi Myin Daing Market. You will then be transfer back to Yangon. In the afternoon you will then be transferred to the airport for your departure flight
